Black bamboo looking bedraggled

My black bamboo (which lives in a huge pot) is looking forlorn. It usually loses its leaves in winter but there's still no sign of their coming back. There is, though, one new shoot emerging.

Does everyone else's bamboo look so bedraggled? Is it just taking time to recover after a hard winter? Can you offer me any hope?

Mine is in a corner of the garden where it doesn't really get enough sunshine. It is looking a bit bedraggled, too, but is still leafy. Some of the newer shoots have lost emerging leaves (I think it was the snow).

Maybe it needs water? Being in a pot it probably dries out faster, and I know that they don't like to dry out. I water mine if the weather has been particularly dry, and feed it occasionally, too.
