Irrigation for pots and small veg bed

We will be away for 3 weeks in July and again in August. Last year when I went away, my potted plants all died. Can anyone recommend a small scale irrigation system to run from the outdoor tap over a couple of dozen pots and a smallish veg bed?

A neighbour?

He doesn't fit the tap well - and is generally suboptimally reliable.

I have a seep hose, which works quite well, but that still leaves you with the choice of relying on your sub-optimal neighbour to turn the tap on, leaving the tap running all the time or fitting a timer.
