re tomatos - what does 'when the first truss has set' mean ?

I got some tomorite for the cherry toms in my green house and it says to start feeding when the first truss has set but i have no idea what a truss is..

The truss is the stem which carries the flowers which then turns into your first 'branch' of tomatoes.

What Dr S said. So you basically wait until the flowers on that truss have formed little tiny green tomatoes behind them, and then start feeding.

Don't do it sooner, or you'll get lots of leaves and no fruit.

And don't forget to 'pinch out' the side shoots which will grow out from between the main stem and the truss. This will ensure the plants don't get bushy and that all the energy goes into growing toms rather than the leaves.
