Which weeds are you battling against in your garden or on your allotment?

In my garden I have a huge problem with buttercups. I have dug up wheelbarrow loads today - I wouldnt mind if they were in the lawn, but the are all over the flowerbeds.

I also have one flower bed with a bindweed problem.

The worst thing is the dreaded japansese knot weed. Whe we moved in there were two patches and for the past three years we have blitzed them but today I noticed three shoots.
DH has painted them wth weedkiller (I try and be organic, but with JK we bring out the chemicals) and we are now on knotweed-watch.
The ony consolation I have is that the new shoots were very small and weedy, so hopefully we are beating the bloody stuff.

we used to have bindweed in the back garden but i seem to have overcome it just by continually pulling up as much as I can. we'll see though, it might be planning an attack again now it's spring!

my worst enemy right now though is next door's bloody bamboo it is coming up all over my lawn, and i just don't have the time or energy to dig the entire lot up

buttercups, daisies and dandelions I LOVE so they're all allowed to stay

Grounder elder. Aaargh. That can never be "a plant in the wrong place".

Ohhh - I have ground elder too. Horrid stuff - it spreads like wildfire.
The first year I moved into this house I assumed it was a proper plant and carefully weeded around ut of course, because I let it run wild for a year there is now loads of it.

These bloody things - some time ago we did some landscaping in the autumn after clearing the garden of 12 years growth of brambles, bindweed, ground elder and other nasties only to find that the celandines were dormant and invisible so were missed. They have now come up everywhere. In the lawn, in the borders, just everywhere. I hate them. They will take over the world like mini triffids.

Creeping buttercup, rosebay willow herb and herds purse. I hate them all...

I currently have a pathological hatred of couch grass and a huge pile to get rid of.

Ground elder here too.

Do you have to report it if you have Japanese knotweed?

Look here, it's baaaaad stuff

Our local council aren't interested in Japanese Knotweed if it is on private land as it isn't a notifiable weed - mind you, they can't control it on the verges of some of the lanes.
It is awful stuff, I'm really hoping we will be able to kill it for good this year.

It sounds horrendous. ground Elder pales in comparison. Some friends of ours have that horrible horse tail stuff, they keep thinking it's gone when up it pops.

There was a patch of Knotweed just down the road from here, on the verge next to the pond. i asked DH what the pretty flowers were and he enlightened me.

Ground elder. Nightmare. I even started looking up recipes for it last year in a 'can't beat it so we'll eat it' campaign. Don't bother.

Ground elder, buttercup, nettles galore in the bottom section, couch grass mostly gone and that weirdy sticky star shaped stuff I never know the name of.

I hate the buttercup most of all as I hate yellow shiny flowers, I think I've got it all, gangly roots and all, blink and there's another blardy one taunting me. In my veg patch too, how very dare they?

I have moss and spiky things in the lawn, knotweed, and that purple flowery pretty weed thing.

One thing that made a massive dent in my knotweed last summer was collecting lots of 'branches' together, spraying with weedkiller then sticking the ends in a carrier bag and knotting it on. Worked a treat!!

What does the cornflour do maryz?

maryz - sounds like my 'lawn' - the moss holds it together!
