Does anyone have any window box tips for a novice? Also, what can I plant in total shade?

I Have no garden but have a house that has windows that are ripe for window boxes. I have sun most the day on the front side, which will catch the ones that will be slightly round the corner also and just catches the front door, but round the 'back' doesn't get the sun at all. I was going to not bother but TBH I really want some there - is there anything I can plant in total shade (I could take out and put in sun from time to time but every few days only really, if that) that also preferably have abit of colour? On the back wall is two longer windows (one 2m, one 140cm) and one small (60cm). Thanks so much if you can help - I am googling but get alot of 'partial shade' plants

so many beautiful plants prefer shade, like ferns and heuchera and maybe hostas

Busy Lizzies are nice and colourful - didn't realise you could grow them in shade Eyeing up a clematis on the BBC site that says will grow in shade - I wonder if I can put it in a large pot (on the ground) and grow it up the house? Or wisteria! (this is in the sun). The heucheras look nice - couldn't have a hosta, my mum has some and all I hear year after year is her tales of keeping them alive and I go and look and it's a bunch of leaves in pot

You'll be better off mixing a few tiny green varigated plants with colour. Maybe some tiny conifers or hebes? You might get away with petunias in partial/full shade.
Wisterias grow very big and will eventually cover the house!
The clematis should work fine.
