What sort of mower is best for a really, really uneven garden?

I've got a rotary mower atm, but I really need to replace it. Not sure which is better though.

The garden is really uneven and no sign of it ever being replaced, so I need to get a mower that will cope with it well.

I am by no means a gardening expert but I did used to have a very lumpy garden... I got a Flymo/hover mower and it was fine and easy to use. Couldn't say it's best though as didn't try anything else!
