I love fuchsias.

Never met a geranium I liked. Not mad keen on primroses or pansies either.

allstarsprincess · 23/02/2010 20:43

The ones I spend loads of money on trying to grow that subsequently die. Grrrr....

Georgimama · 23/02/2010 20:45

chrysans

Yuk yuk yuk

Not big on roses, particularly not red Valentine's day style ones.

midnightexpress · 23/02/2010 20:52

yyy (or should that be nnn) to astilbes. For some reason I can't explain, I really loathe them. Even though they'd probably do very well in my damp clay garden. Not keen on kniphofia either.

I'm not keen on double anything, especially double snowdrops and double hollyhocks. The singles I adore.

taffetacat · 23/02/2010 20:56

midnightexpress - With you on the doubles business. They have murdered Cosmos this year I notice with a double white one.

wall flowers, red hot pokers.

havoc · 23/02/2010 21:00

Roses. I know, I'm a freak. When flowering they are ok, but the rest of the year they are horrible and woody. And ear-wigs lurk inside them. yuk.

I've always hated marigolds. Don't like orange flowers in general. Just don't like orange.

Oh, also really hate daffodils - they always remind me of being cold

drinkmoretea · 23/02/2010 21:18

carnations, geraniums, crysanths (sp?)

taffetacat · 23/02/2010 21:38

I don't like the orangey red geraniums with leaves that smell of wee.

I love the perennial blue ones though.

I think the reason I hate hate hate astilbes is that they look fake. And possibly they remind me of my the pampas grass my parents had in the 70's that I lost my guinea pig in.

Also don't like Astilbes, Red Hot Pokers, Carnations, Marigolds, orange/red wallflowers, yello Sunflowers...

GrendelsMum · 25/02/2010 21:20

Freesias. Can't bear them.

Pannacotta, we are no longer garden soul-mates. I like all of the above except astilbes, and I've seen them planted well too . But I bet even you would like this -

www.cgf.net/photos/DiaEOI71.jpg

an absolute stunner for a hard working plant, elegant evergreen foliage in neat balls all through the year, and putting out these wonderful sweet scented deep red flowers. Very elegant.

Pannacotta · 25/02/2010 22:10

I like Freesias GrendelsMum - lovely scent - also like the photo you linked to, look like Pinks?

Gutted we are no longer garden soul mates, but will get over it, in time...

McDreamy · 25/02/2010 22:11

Yellow ones. Just don't like yellow flowers!

Sekhmet · 26/02/2010 01:08

Geraniums!!!!!! I can't stand them, they bring me out in rage, ha ha! Damn things are cheap too and so always all over the place, parks, road sides, garden centres, my mum's house! Raaa! :P

I also dislike lupins as they only look good for about a week!

taffetacat · 26/02/2010 12:32

Just thought of another. Iris. I like the wee ones - reticulata - but really struggle with the normal size and big ones. There were loads in our garden when we first came but there is something................sinister about them. Especially the brown -y ones. Yuk.

I also don't like the massive allium. Love sphaeropholon but the giant ones the size of a small child - yuk.

Sekhmet · 26/02/2010 14:02

taffetacat: I'm not too keen either, they look like something from day of the triffids! bom bom bom! hides

WorkInProgress · 26/02/2010 14:08

Lilies - the smell overpowers everything ! Yuk.

foxinsocks · 26/02/2010 14:10

hyacinths

they make me faint, have no idea why

Sekhmet · 26/02/2010 14:32

ooooooh yeah I forgot about those things foxinsocks! They make me heady too, and can bring on a migraine! We should start a war against them :P

oxocube · 26/02/2010 14:33

Gladioli and marigolds

Greenfingeredsarah · 26/02/2010 17:07

I don't like carnations....they remind me of old people's homes.

GrendelsMum · 27/02/2010 20:05

No, I adore hyacinths! I can't believe you don't like them. I just love watching them push themselves up through the soil - they seem to do it in a totally different way to other bulbs, so that you can see the flowerhead right from the start, rather than the flowerhead being developed after the leaves and stem have grown.
