Rhubarb - how and when?

I'd love to grown rhubarb in my allotment but haven't a clue whether it's grown from seed or plant and when to plant etc. Have heard of forcing but not sure what it means. Can anyone help please?

You need to buy rhubarb crowns. It's best not to pick any for the first year.
Forcing is when you cover the plant to exclude light and encourage long tender stems.

Ask another allotment holder if they would divide theirs and give you a piece - it will be bigger than a bought piece.

Plant it, mulch it, then leave it be for the first year.
