Has anyone had a landscape gardener do a large garden (100ft)?

How much did it cost roughly? The place we are buying (yes, it is actually going to go through!) has 100ft garden with nothing but grass and a concrete patio. We want play areas, planting areas, wild areas, etc.

Obviously we will get quotes, but I was just wondering ball park figure.

Do you know the size (i.e. how wide it is too?) Our garden was a third of an acre and cost about £10k in the end. That was with me doing the design. It wasn't particularly elaborate but did include a large deck, large pond and raised oak planters. Rest was just lawn and some gravel.

How big is an acre in feet? The width of mine is about 30 feet. I am shocked at £10000!! Did you have a lot of plants?

No plants! I know. The deck was large and hardwood and half of the lawn was relaid. The pond was also very large and rectangular (although we saved a lot by putting decking around the edge rather than stone)

It was worth it though. Sold the house for us.

Well, I have looked up the measurement. Our garden is 0.06 of an acre. So that is significantly less than yours so I would hope it would cost way less too!

I don't think 10K is outrageous for a garden of this size. As a point of comparison we had our very small garden done and spent nearly 6K. There's nothing very fancy like water features etc (apart from lighting) but there was a lot of digging out to be done as the garden is on two levels.

This garden is totally flat. I don't envisage any digging out. There is already good lawn (if we decide to keep any!). We need a path or more added, some well designed planting, some bark area for a wooden play house, some raised beds for planting, etc. No water features. Not sure about any decking as there is already a patio area.

Please tell me this will not cost 10k!

could you do it yourselves? If you already have a patio that's a big part of the job done.

Ours should have cost 7,500 according to the initial quote but labour costs spiralled.
