Ok... so iv bought a compost bin... but what can i actually put in it??

umm... coffee grounds, newspaper, kitchen roll, eggshells, crusts (if your dcs are fussy like mine and leave them!)

Thankyou - interesting!! I certainly didnt think i could put coffee grounds in, DH will be very happy to hear that as he hates the smell of them in the bin!! Hehe my DCs are exactly the same - at least i wont feel like im wasting them now i know they can go in the compost bin!!

Make sure you add newspaper regularly otherwise it gets too moist and soggy.

Oh and bear in mind it will take you at least two years to get as much compost as you do in about three grow bags - it's amazing how small everything rots down to!

i don't want to slay the thread but beware of any hedgehogs hiding in it in the winter.. do not fork it over and leave well alone.

Finding hedgehog spines in ours last spring when the poor little blighter had died from cold was not nice.

Nor was it suitable for a springwatch moment. DD had tantrum as she wanted to send in pics!!
