(Male) Wee as fox repellant.....

Is it true? My neighbour told me that weeing in the back garden where the fox has started to poo will keep them away? Or is this neighbour just winding me up. Last night I was out there at dusk aiming at a marker previously placed whilst watching to ensure that the other neighbour didn't spy me and call the police.

good as badger repellent. Not sure about foxes.

males have the hormones apparently/! Someone did tell me that wee attracts rats - any thoughts, mn massive?

have sent my male dog over to my friends house as foxes kept digging up her garden, think it worked..

Someone once told me that "old" wee works even better, ie wee that has been saved in a bottle or similar for a few days. Have never tried it though.....

We used to have this problem in old house (outskirts of London) but someone recommended that we sprinkle our garden with Olbas Oil, and that seemed to do the trick. Worked for cats as well. Think the idea is for anything strong/pungent smelling, so that fox/cat thinks that something else has marked its territory there...

You have my sympathies, fox and cat poo used to be the bain of our lives. Have not seen a single fox though since we moved to countryside...bit of a drastic remedy though!
Apart from the pooing they cause a lot of damage - a family of fox cubs ruined our (small) trampoline - bit through the elastic etc. Would love to have wathced them because they well and truly wrecked it!

TDiddy - wee into a bowl in your bathroom and then carry it out and pour into plastic fast food tray and dot them about where the fox goes. Works the same but safe, no risk of police complaints and no lingering 'pub toilet' smell in your garden. You can remove the trays as and when you wish during the day, say when kids are outside, and replace again with a fresh batch at night.

FIL tells story that when he was young living in a mining community all the men would come home from the pub and wee on their champion leeks - simple liquid fertiliser. However, people had outside toilets in those days so perhaps a bit more accepted.

ABetaDad - the direct delivery some how appeals to a primitive streak. The fox and I marking territory. DW just said that I am not allowed potty and garden trays anyway.

girlsyearapart maybe we should borrow husband next door just as you lent dog to piss around back yard. Could escalate into a male shoot off to see who is the most pungent male in the street!

no idea - you men just stink! Ever walked past a gents toilet? The smell of pesh is enough to knock an elephant unconcious

seeyounext - its because they just don't clean Gents loos properly. Its disgusting. Ours at home smells just fine though.

They don't clean gents loos, because nobody is brave enough to venture in there!

Well there seemed to be plenty of female students in the Gents at Cambridge railway station when I was last there and they did not seem to be put off by it.

I put my best face on and muttering in an audible voice 'I suppose you all think this is clever and funny' and determined that I should proceed undaunted to the urinals regardless..... which were obviously...... not there .... but were to be found ... in the Gents next door. OMG!

I exited in haste to the distinct sound of barely suppressed young female giggling.

I have never seen a laydee in the Cambridge railway station but times are changing. I wonder how those French women manage sharing with the blokes.

I do believe that all men are pungent.
Perhpas there should be an MN survey on whether we feel our DP/DH etc are pungent or not and we could draw up some sort of graph or venn diagram with the finding. You know the sort of thing. Pungent, not pungent or slightly whifffily pungent at times.

I hear that a higher preditor poo works well. Only useful if you live near Longleat I suppose.

Georgiemum - but if i ask them for some Lion poo at Whipsnade they would proably lock me up.

seeyounexttuesday is this a life long observation or has the credit crunch raised the level of pungent men? Also I would like to think that at a certain point the man musk turns into a sweet smell.

Somehow I think MNers will go defensive if you start a thread asking them if the DHs smell. .

If you ask for the poo, there is the risk that they will hand you a bucket and spade and tell you to get on with it!
