How do you dry garlic?

I've grown some garlic for the first time this year, but now I'm a bit lost in terms of drying it.

I'm guessing I just cut off the leaves and thread the bulbs on some string and hang them in the pantry?

Is there anything else I need to do or watch out for?

I grew it last year and after picking them just left them on top of the veg patch soil in the summer sunshine for a day, then plaited them (copying pictures I found on Google images!) then just hung them up in the kitchen! If you want to plait them you keep the leaves and use them as the plaits.
