Hi. I'm looking for a garden parasol in hot pink. Has anyone seen one in a garden centre or know where to get one?
I have searched the internet and can find them in every colour, except pink! Any help gratefully accepted.

morrisons had the fluffy ones- sort of plastic raffia in hot pink- they had a fab bistro set to match- twas tempted

DesperateHousewifeToo · 31/05/2009 14:47

Is this big enough here?

DesperateHousewifeToo · 31/05/2009 15:07

Or here?

Could you go for red and hope it fades?

DesperateHousewifeToo · 31/05/2009 15:15

Or, get a 'replacement cover' in natural and dye it.

mumtoted · 31/05/2009 15:39

Thanks for you replies. I wanted the fabric type rather than fluffy. Dying would be a good option, i hadn't thought of that but this replacement cover is made of polyester and has a coating on it so i dont think that will work. Also if it shrunk during the dying process i'd be stuck!

Can the cotton type covers be removed from the ordinary wooden parasols?

As you might get away with dyeing them as long as you put it back on whilst still wet.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 31/05/2009 18:52

How about this?

Can you tell I'm bored?

mumtoted · 31/05/2009 20:05

Beautiful! But out of my price range unfortunately . I really like the multi coloured one aswell but really dont want to spend that much. Plain green, blue or red ones go for as little as 20-30 quid. Last years brolly got eaten by something in the shed so i'd be gutted if the same thing happened to an expensive one.
How can you be bored at this time of night? Are your children old enough to put themselves to bed? I've just finished the bedtime routine, got the kitchen to clean up, a huge pile of ironing ( which DH normally does to be honest)
and i'm studying for an exam next week. I would love to be bored. Or even just alone in the house for a day!

Well... my 2 had an early bath because ds wanted to watch 'beat the star'.

dd had just taken herself up to bed because I asked her to tidy up. Dh went up to see her 5 mins later and she was fast asleep

Dh announced he wasn't feeling well, so I managed to get out of making dinner for us.

He and ds have now gone up to bed.

I'm here with a nice glass of chilled white, laptop and CSI..result

Anything else you need me to search for?

That last parasol was lovely wasn't it?

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 31/05/2009 20:42

The Indian-style one is the only pink one I've seen in years of browsing garden porn recently.

Where do you live? It might turn out equally expensive, but could you get a local sailmaker/soft furnishings maker to make a new cover for your old parasol frame (assuming it isn't already on the tip)?

mumtoted · 31/05/2009 20:50

I'm in surrey. I had even thought about making a new cover but the old brolly was the cheap metal frame type, bought for not many euros on holiday, and all the stoppers had got
lost. Soon to be on the tip! I would like the new one to be a bit more substantial, wooden or metal frame, round or square parasol, bright pink in colour in either canvas or polyester. Is that too much to ask?
Seeing as there aren't any about, am i ahead of my time, a trend setter or do i just have very poor taste?!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 31/05/2009 21:38

Well, as I love hot pink, I think you have excellent taste. But those hot pink Indian parasols have been around for a couple of years, so maybe they're no longer on trend and all the chicest gardens now have ochre, guava or anthracite.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 31/05/2009 22:09

I have seen hot pink. Think our old neighbours had one.

So you must be 'behind the times'

mumtoted · 01/06/2009 22:30

Are you still in contact with your old neighbours to ask them where they got it from? I could then be in fashion for next time it comes around!

DesperateHousewifeToo · 01/06/2009 23:05

I do see them occasionally. Will ask if I see them soon.

Thinking of our local shops, was probably from Homebase or B and Q.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 01/06/2009 23:06

They did move about 5 years ago though!

DesperateHousewifeToo · 05/06/2009 18:42

I saw my old neighbour today.

Apparently, she has only just thrown away her umbrella as it went moldy.

She bought it from The Chelsea Gardener.

Had a quick look on the site. Couldn't see any pink ones but didn't really have a good look. Some of them were very expensive though so not sure if that was much help!

mumtoted · 08/06/2009 23:03

Thanks Desperate for thinking of me! I haven't had time to look any further as i'm revising for an exam & its dd 5th birthday tomorrow. Bloody weather has turned naf so will only be using brolly to keep the rain off. Thanks for the link, I'll look now!

Hi I've seen a pink stripey one from Tesco Direct £29.99 - hope that helps if you've not already bought one :-)

Sunset123 · 29/05/2010 17:06

Oh just noticed that's from last year haha!
