Help... I have recently laid new turf and someone said it would be a good idea to lay a permeable membrane before putting down the topsoil... 4.5 tonnes of topsoil for 60m square. I stupidly took there advice and lay down permeable weed control fabric. I?m worried now I don?t have enough soil depth for the root to bed in. please help! Will top dressing help build soil depth??

how deep is the topsoil? you should have min of 5 inches of soil between the turf and the membrane.

only 3-4 inches

Hi there. Think that is good advice you have been given, to lay the permeable membrane before putting down the topsoil.

The membrane wont stop the grass roots from growing down into the soil, but will stop the weeds from growing up onto your lawn.

And you have enough soil depth for the root to bed in anyway. Personally, I wouldn't worry about top dressing. HTH
