Hey tomorrow I am nicking from a neighbour's garden being given a Japanese Maple - it's squashed in a border and neighbour is no gardener (judging by huge thistle by his front door - ds suggested we ask him for that too!!) and he won't love it like I will so I'm adopting it and want to shower it with tlc.

Will be popping it in a pot but what compost?

I have a feeling that Acers like ericaceous compost, but I'm not sure. Have a look at somewhere that sells them, like Crocus, and I'm sure the advice will be on there.
