What to do with my garden

I have a huge 60ft by 60ft overgrown garden.
It is not quite square and goes round the side of the house. Pic is on my profile.

There is a tarmac track going all the way round so Son can ride his bike safely. In side the track is grass which is so overgrown I have huge tufts of grass growing high. Out side the track there is nettles and some thorny bushes.

We really don't know what to do with it, we want to keep the inside grassed as trampoline will be on there but it is so undulating we need to sort that out.

If anyone has some ideas and/or tips they would be greatly appreciated as we are so clueless.

I would start by painting the fence a lovely colour. A dark green will make the garden feel bigger.

Then, look at 'softening the edges even further by planting climbers (ivy, clematis etc) Up the fence.

Can you cut the grass? You may need to scyth it first but I think grass is the best material for children.

Keep the track if it works for you but what about edging it with lovely lavender (only if the garden is sunny) or hardy geraniums or alchimilla mollis.

Cut down all shrubs, bushes etc that look horrible or are in the wrong place (eg prickly bushes where children play. Then visit the garden centre and ask their advice for lovely ones you can replace them woth. Don't spend too much; plants do grow.

I've got to go now. Will try and catch you later if more advice needed.

I like the idea of some climbing plants that can soften the fence.

The garden gets the sun from early morning till late evening so good for lavender.

Don't like a lot of green in the garden so any bushes that are colourful, and easy to look after.

Going to cut the grass this week, will be strimming it down. Then mowing it, is hard to do as grass is so uneven.

Have huge amount of nettles what are the best way to get rid of them?
