If so, would you tell me all about it? Do you like it? Is it soft enough for children to play on? Any drawbacks? In fact, just tell me anything and everything about it - pleeeeese

Please don't do this.

Whatever anyone says.......it is wrong.

A bloke on our allotment site has one in his front garden. Very odd.

Kids get Astro-turf burn. Ouch!

MrsFogi · 06/05/2009 16:35

I thought there were some astro-turfs that didn't burn now?
Why is it wrong GPC?

why would you want astro turf in the first place - just out of interest

sagacious · 06/05/2009 18:28

I know someone with an astro turf garden
It looks ok from a distance and she raves about the low maintenance (she hoovers it)

But its weird and sort of ickky.
The idea of it makes me itch

I'd love an astro turf garden . However, I would hate my child to fall over on astro - that really hurts.

We have one and here's why. We have a very small garden which is also very shady in the only suitable area for lawm. There was no way that real grass would survive and I really wanted a green area for the kids to play on. It's only 3 x 5m and it works perfectly.

So I know it seems weird (I would have been the first to say so) but it works for us

hillbilly · 08/05/2009 15:46

BTW no problems with the kids faling on it either - but then it's not big enough for them to get up much speed really!

Oh and we got it here Very good product and service.

MrsFogi · 08/05/2009 18:37

Thank you hillbilly - your reasons are exactly the same as mine for getting an astroturf lawn. Thanks for the link - did they install for you? Any other tips?

You're welcome MrsFogi. Artificial grass gets a really hard time here, unfairly so in my opinion

They will install for you but since we were having our garden done anyway by someone else, we did not use there service. They were so helpful and friendly which is why I chose them over other companies (also they are based very near where I come from).

Good luck!

hillbilly · 08/05/2009 20:31

sorry - their service.

Pedants back off!

A friend of DS's family has one. They wanted grass for their DSs to play on but with the way their garden is (very shady) real grass was constantly getting waterlogged and covered in moss, apparently. It seems to work for them, and DS has never got astroburn when he's been playing out there.
