Any tips please on orchid resurrection??

My lovely beautiful orchid that survived since I got it in December has apparently given up on life (I suspect swine flu myself ), in the last two weeks all the flowers have shrivelled and fallen off and now the stalk is drying up and the leaves at the bottom are shrivelling

What has happened? I haven't done anything differently , is there any hope of it surviving? Are they supposed to do this or do they bloom all year round?

Any tips appreciated

Take a look at this thread from a couple of weeks ago, might find some tips there.

Fingers-crossed mine is still OK (from Feb)

no, they die off and come back. Don't overwater. I repotted mine in orchid compost last month and it's come up with a new stalk and more flowers this month - last time it was in flower was last autumn

Once the flowers have fallen off, cut the stalk off at the base, then water it once a week by submerging it completely in tepid water for 10 - 15 mins (over the top of the pot) Eventually, just as you're giving up on it, it'll send out another stalk. But it may be several monmths before it flowers again. I have 2 orchids from about 4 years ago that are onto their 5th flowers.

(Failing all that - buy another for about a tenner )
