Have been burning some rubbish today - mainly broken fence panels and cut off branches. Do we now just leave it alone with the lid on to die down ? Can we sprinkle ash onhte garden. Managed to singe my eyelashes and fringe a bit too !

I always leave mine with the lid on. As long as it's not touching anything, it should be safe enough.

You can put the ash on the garden - it's good fertiliser - but dig it in otherwise it just sits on the top of the soil for ages. Or you can add it to your compost bin if you have one.

Dont put the ash on the garden - I read that its not a good idea to do this is the fence panels were ever treated (which most are) as the products used to treat the wood are bad for plants, I think this stands even if the panels were old.

Is it any good as a weed killer then ? That area of the garden needs clearing anyway !
