Hiya, I'm researching a book about setting up a vegetable garden for total beginners and children and was wondering if anyone here has any ideas as to what you would want to see in such a book? What would be most useful to you?

Also, is there any burning questions which you want answered right here and now?

I have a little girl and we are starting our veggie garden this spring, I really want to get her into veggies and organic costs too much at the supermarket.

Please let me have your thoughts.

Thanks
veggiegirl

Useful info woudl be:
when to sow seeds
exactly how to do the sewing
how often to water,
which varities are easiest to grow
what works where (sun/shade etc)
What kids enjoy planting/wathicn grow etc etc

get them to start with fast growing stuff to avoid boredom

i.e climbing beans
runner beans
sunflowers
nastutiums - they may enjoy making a pretty salad with the flowers

How to GET RID OF SLUGS!

Preparing the soil (compost, manure etc. The variety of organic fertilizers and feeds can be quite bewildering).

Green manures

How to make compost

Have you seen this book? It's rather good.

i think potatoes are a good one to start with and raddishes when it's warmer outside, also beetroot and beans.

Have fun!
