I really want the fig but our garden is terribly exposed and it is always windy.
Climbers are some of my favourites so am perusing the clematis but keep finding other 'wants'.
This rose has gone into the basket. We have an Akebia quinata and hopefully it will grow here but everything gets so stunted by the wind. The chocolate scented flowers look stunning.

Thats funny, I have just planted a fig! Have always wanted to have one and am hoping to train mine as an espalier.
Can you find a sheltered wall where you can plant one?
In terms of wind, coudl you put up trellis/plant barriers to slow the wind?
Even willow/bamboo roll screening woudl help.

Crocus were at the Chelsea Flower show last year, their garden was my favourite. ALl green and whites.
