Hi, I've got an overgown tub in the garden that has weeds and a few daffodils in it
The daffodils are dead now and what i wanted to do was replant the daffodils in the flower bed and put something else in the tub

so a) when should I replant the daffodil bulbs and b) should I completely empty the tub and buy spme compost soil or someting to fill it with before planting anything?

tia

Whip the bulbs out now and plant them deep in the border, in a clump so you don't get one daff here, one daff there.

With your tub, empty it right out and clean it before refilling with fresh compost and plants/whatever.

aw thanks mrsmaidamess, I wasn't sure because there is still the long green leafy bit of the daffodils.

ooh I bite the bullet and have done it
Not sure I've put them in deep enough but hopefully they'll be ok
I've giventhem lots of water but they are looking a bit limp and pathetic

can anyone advise me on what to do with a small patch of soil where a grrenhouse used to stand
I don't want to go down the veg patch route and was thinking of planting a tree there and maybe a bordering hedge? but no idea what tree is easy to grow

Most trees are easy to grow, the tree you go for depends on how big you want it to grow, how much sun / shade / rain that bit of the garden gets and what you want it to look like eg flowers in spring / fiery colours in Autumn. The RHS website has some info on choosing trees here. I wouldn't put it too near the hedge as they'd both battle it out for light and water and one would struggle.
