seed potato question

Mung · 07/04/2009 10:10

I bought my seed potatoes a while back and when I looked in the bag yesterday I found that they all now look the same. They were originally very different colours and I thought I'd recognise them. I know I am already a bit late to plant the earlies, but they do all look the same.

Should I just plant them all and take pot luck?

Any other ideas?

The ideal time to plant your potatoes is Easter Weekend so I've been told so you're not too late by any means. I haven't put 1st early in yet.

you might have to take pot luck or try to put some that look similar together. Sorry can't offer anything more than that

Some were more red than the others and now they are all grey. Very annoyed at myself for not separating them when I got home.

They shouldn't have gone grey. DId you leave them in a plastic bag because if you did it is mould and they should be binned not even go into compost. (Someone else will confirm this or not as well I hope)

I've just checked mine out and they are all potato colour with chits on and slightly shrivilled.

At a closer look it is like a muddy grey colour...not the clean looking red and white they were when I bought them. They have little chits on them too and are slightly shriveled. I dont think its mould, they are just indistinguishable from each other now.

you should be fine to plant them
