Which plants are good for deterring cats?

Although I have my own cat, my garden seems to be the local hangout for all the other cats in the hood and it's driving me insane. I have invested in a magnetic catflap to prevent them coming inside but also wish to plant some things that they don't like.

Any tips?

The problem here is that you own a cat. If you plant things (ie, holly) then this would deter your cat aswell as the others. Try a water pistol.

Hi hillbilly - bit late finding this, but have been out in the garden all day Getting Things Done! You might want to investigate a plant called Coleus Canina. I haven't had direct experience of this myself, but it's claimed to deter both cats and dogs. They call it 'Scardy Cat' (which in my book merits a mention in Pedant's Corner, as it should be Scaredy Cat, but that's a whole other can of worms ).

I've seen it for sale in quite a few seed catalogues. The Grauniad appears to have it as a special offer at the moment. Here's the link: www.guardianoffers.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/guardianoffers/_EASWGP148/-/Coleus-Canina

Good luck!

Thanks! Yes I know it's a bit of a problem that I have a cat myself. Anyway I have ordered suggested plant so lets see what happens.
