How to poison ivy?

Neighbour's ramshackle hideous fence is nearly falling down due to weight of hideous ivy covering it. It looks such a state - but it's their fence, not ours, so I can't do much about it. Have put up willow screening but the ivy has grown through and is pushing the screening over. Any good tips for getting rid of ivy? Roundup on leaves hasn't worked.

oh its dreadful stuff isn't it! I HATE it! nothing worked on ours in our garden - it was growing out of the wall, so we chopped it where we saw it growing - but it has started shooting again!! grr! some people think it looks nice, but I think it drowns everything and looks horrible!

you would have to dig it up at the roots to get rid of it. Is it growing from his garden? Red, if the ivy is growing through a wall then the wall could become very unstable (not the ivy's fault - in fact the ivy is probably holding the wall up for you now!). Is it your wall? You should talk to your neighbour about that.
