what happened to my mistletoe cutting

Brought home a bunch of cut mistletoe the other day to hang up outside. Didn't have red ribbon, as I thought, so kept it in a vase for a couple of days till I got some to put a bow round. When I went to hang this morning, all the berries fell off & the leaves are turning brown.

Should I have kept it outside from the start?

It never lasts long here either. Most of the berries on mine had come off before it even got to the house.

Apparently, if you have an oldish tree in the garden, you can squash the berries into the bark and then you might get your own mistletoe next year. Having said that, I try it every year and it never bloody works!

There's another thread Vanessa about how to do it but I'm not a gardener & don't even have an oldish shrub never mind tree
