starting off a mistletoe plant

I heard on the radio the other day that you can start off a mistletoe plant by rubbing the berries onto the bark of an existing tree. Am not really a gardner but hae some from a party last night and thought I'd give it a bash, anyonme heard this?

according to RHS site it says don't use christmas berries

it says on this site keep the branch in the shed and try and use them then spring
