How effective should I expect my leaf vac to be?

I've lost my attachment to the vision of me standing on the patio pointing it in the vague direction of the lawn and expecting all the leaves to come scurrying towards me. BUT, it's PATHETIC!!! Won't blow at all, and any leaves that I do manage to suck up the tube, come staight back donw again when I switch it off. I'm guessing that there's a blockage somewhere, but how do I dismantle it? I recall someone telling me once that you're not supposed to suck up large leaves and some of mine are sycamore. Any advice out there?
(apart from to get out there with a rake and do it all manually!)

Have a look on the manufacturers website for diamantling instructions or ring them. Leaves should not be a problem, what ever the size.

Is this a blow and suck leaf vac?

Supposed to be. But doesn't blow and is pretty erratic as to whether it will suck! Thanks for your reply.
