I want to grow some lavender from seeds as i want quite alot to go in my front garden about 15ft wide.

Can i start them now? Will they grow how long will they take as i would like them by next summer.

I dont have a green house so they would have to be grow outside and are they actually fast growers?

quite difficult to do I think - I think most people buy it as small plants

i brought seeds an chucked them all in a big pot in the garden

I have 4 plants to show for it!

Can you take cuttings? (have never actually done this but books seem to recommend it as a good way of increasing your stock of shrubs).

They do well from cuttings which you could take now then cover the pot with a plastic bag and leave it somewhere sheltered for the winter.

I grew a few plants from seed (one pack of seeds about 20 plants) two years back but they're still quite small now.

One of the big seed catalogue companies does big batches of lavender plug plants 24, 48, 72 etc and they don't seam that expensive. I can never remember their name but if you pick up a gardening magazine at this time of year the catalogue will drop out.
