Rhubarb! Rhubarb!

I planted some rhubarb a few years ago and divided it last autumn. It seemed very slow to grow this year so I assuned it needed a 'rest' after being divided and didn't take any off it. Later in the summer it started to grow like mad and now I have some pretty splendid huge plants but can I take some for cooking now or will it be past its best?

Thanks in advance for any help!

you can try stewing a bit to test it's flavour, i'm sure it'll be o.k.
i mostly do this with my rhubarb!
