Can anyone name this plant?

Given to me by my Mum before she moved abroad.
Pic in profile.
It has suddenly shot out a red bit which has what looks like yellow flowers coming out of it.

I've had it nearly 3 years and it hasn't done this before!

it's a mother-in-law's tongue, also called a sansevaria i think. (so called becuase if you cut it and apply to the tongue it makes it go numb - good for mothers-in-law) I've never seen one flower before. It means it;s either really happy, or really unhappy and trying desperatley to procreate.

It is a Vriesia splendens - Flaming Torch (a bromeliad)!!

Well if they can handle drought I might have to get one, as neglect is our no.1 houseplant killer.

a naming ceremony would be good. just as long as i'm not guardian. i'm not good with plants.
