Cantilever parasol - winter storage ideas please!

I'm currently tidying up the garden and getting it ready for winter. I was doing really well until I got to moving the garden furniture. I've realised that the lovely cantilever parasol we treated ourselves to this year, and has been amazing in the summer, is 20cm too tall to go into my biggest shed!

I have no garage so I'm considering storing it outside, horizontally with the ladders, as it's so long. I'm just concerned that it may get ruined.

Has anyone stored their parasol outside over winter and if so can you recommend a strong waterproof bag/ cover? I intend to give it a good clean and dry before carefully folding it and putting it into a bag. It would be stored on top of the ladder brackets, off the floor. Is this a sensible idea?

My only other option is the loft, but it's so heavy and would be awkward to lift it through the house and up there, so that solution is far from ideal.

Any ideas gratefully received!

I had one for years that stayed in the gsrdrn yesr round
Just look for a good thick waterproof cover for that type with a zip from top to bottom and drawstrings at the bottom.
Never had a issue with rain / mould etc.

Thanks for the reassurance that your parasol is fine. I do need to take it down and store horizontally, so am trying to find a heavy duty waterproof cover for it.

@Julysunshineishere
We used to lay it flat with cover on and leave it tucked away behind the garden sofa The last few years we just left it up no issues either way

@Oxo01 Thanks, that's reassuring to know you've done that for a few years and all ok.
I've been clearing a space near the ladders outside today, between the heavy rain showers.
