I think it’s the time of year to divide perennials.
Does anyone have tips on dividing a massive hosta?

This is what I’ve done in the past: https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/hosta/growing-guide have a look at the section on propagating. Might be easier to wait until the spring when there are buds but no leaves if it’s a big one.

I find them very forgiving. I just went at it with a spade and divided into 3. All plants were fabulous next season

Agree, never had a problem dividing them - they’re pretty resilient plants (although the dry weather this summer seem to have seen off my favourite one sadly).

Dig it up. Cut all the leaves off. Chop it with a spade, or you might be able to tease apart with back to back forks. If it is really congested saw it up - I have done this before! Replant.

Will defo dig up and split!

About how many should I divide this into?
