What is this, please? I must have planted it two years ago but it’s never bloomed before, the marker has vanished, and I have absolutely no memory of buying it or planting it! Thank you!

It’s been a great year for them. Usually don’t flower for me either but this year has been fantastic.

They thrive in almost drought conditions. Too much moisture and they dont bloom because the plant doesn't feel the need to reproduce. The long hot summer will have forced the flowers. They're great for keeping other weeds at bay as well due to their roots 🤗

That would make sense. I know I didn’t water that border at all, all summer, because it’s comparatively shady and I was concentrating on other parts of the garden. Will it spread?

We have been in our current house for just over five years and this year I have one of these near the back door. I didn’t plant it so it must have been there, quietly, all along. It’s lovely.

Liriope muscari is it's binomial scientific name, but, yes, widely known as 'lilyturf' and usually blue in colour, but, occasionally, white variants are available

And, yes OP, to answer your question, it should form a clump which you can split and divide and, if it is really happy in its location, it may produce its own offsets

That rings a bell! I didn’t know the ‘lilyturf’ name — I’m a very new gardener. That’s definitely the name I bought it under, but it never bloomed till now, so I’d completely forgotten about it, as it was an anonymous foliage clump! Thank you all.

Edited

If you deliberately seperate and re plant it will as PP has said. But it shouldn't spread like a weed if that makes sense. They're lovely hardy little plants 🤗
