Hello wonderful fellow gardeners need a bit of advice, please.

Was thinking to order some new lavender plants English munstead variety- realistically would be delivered in late Sept early oct. They are established plants already.

Does it make sense to buy now and plant out immediately or hold off until next year spring?

Thanks

Yes usually it is normal to plant stuff in the autumn. However it depends where you are and if the ground is solid it might take a few weeks of rain to penetrate through this year.

Id get them repotted into larger pots and check root growth and plan for them to go in the ground in November if the ground is dry from this summer.

Thanks for your help Shedmistress. I didn't end up buying them in the end, as worried to take chance
But may just purchase now.

Lavender is best planted in the spring. It won't like sitting in cold wet soil over the winter when not fully established. If your soil is very sandy you might get away with it.
