I know you've said you fed it but, just in case, tomorite brought my lemon tree back from the dead! From spindly with sparse, yellowing leaves these past 2 years to bushy and deep green with tons of new branches. Worth a shot!

Do you know what type of tree it is, when was it planted. Are the stems and branches green if you scrape them, if yes it's still alive. Ard there any bugs or patches on the leaved. It might need moving to a different spot in the garden, do youmknow what type of soil and sun/shade it needs

Keep on looking after it. It’s possible it’s trying to save its own life, after the long drought. I have something looking just like that at present, but my gardener investigated the roots and told me it’s alive. It’s just very stressed due to temporary lack of water, and the strong heat has crisped it up. I have my fingers crossed for your tree and mine, that next year they will burst forth nice new growth.

I agree that tomato feed is good, and earlier in the year it would have helped.

There's no point in giving it any more fertiliser at this time of year, it can't use it. Deciduous trees are entering their autumn phase and starting to shut down for winter. Maybe give it some liquid seaweed as a pick-me-up to provide some trace elements, but otherwise leave it alone now. It's been a hard year for trees, so it is a waiting game now.

Leave it until spring and then give it a balanced feed like Growmore in around March, so that it has nutrients available to it when it wakes up and starts putting on new growth. When it puts out new leaves next year, you can then remove any dead branches.

The heat has affected many plants the past couple of years.
It is probably just stressed but to be certain, scrape a v.small portion of bark to see if it is still green underneath.
How much water were you giving it? I saw neighbours sharing a single watering can amongst several large shrubs & young trees which TBH is going to do absolutely nothing, you need to give them a GOOD drink the weather is hot & dry to get the water down to the roots.
