Ok any help appreciated pls
Picture enclosed of different areas . I got my lawn mower and strimmer today ( new lawn put down 18th july).
It has done well considering the heat wave, it grew very fast but due to the heat it has got a fair bit of burnt patches, one bigger patch a few smaller and some in between good grass.

I have read that you shouldn't mow the burnt bits as probarly dormant and it will strees it.
I can trim the boarders with strimmer but other bits of grass need a cut but the good has some burnt bits in between it.

How do I do this or do I just leave it for a while ?
How do I know if its dormant or has died all together ?

It will rally or it won't - it's hard to tell the difference between scorched and actually dead other by waiting to see if it greens up.

How much rain have you had recently? Pretty much all of our grass has put on green growth in the last fortnight.

If you want to go carefully, raise the blades on the mower so it's not cutting it too low.

Just a few showers and i think one little down pour.

Yes some of of it has grown well thick and green recently but the brown bits stay the same.

Normal grass can cope just fine with drought and will come back no problem. Because yours is new turf, some of it may well have dried out before the roots had a chance to grow into the soil below and establish.

I sprinkled some grass seed down on my lawn over the dodgiest looking patches about ten days ago, it has all germinated and is now about an inch high. So maybe try that. Before you do so, raise the lawnmower blades up to a higher setting and cut the rest of it now.

I have some seeds so will try that just waiting for a dry day as it poring down today.
