Have I killed my money puzzle tree?

So we have been away over the summer and unfortunately DC completely forgot to water my small monkey puzzle tree. I've come back and all of the lower branches are brown. The top bits are still green but it doesn't look happy. Ive repotted it into a bigger pot and given it some good compost. Is it likely to perk up?

Oh exactly the same has happened to mine. I assume that there’s no hope for it but I’ve not thrown it out yet

Give it a feed and cross your fingers. I have a monkey puzzle tree planted in the garden. It must be the slowest growing tree there is. I joke that I planted it for future generations.
Large one were so expensive that I bought one around the same size as yours looks (3-4ft). Over ten years later it's only grown a few inches.

That's its natural habit. They gradually lose their lower branches as they grow taller. I'm guessing that this one has jettisoned a few a bit early since it got so dry. By the way, they become giant trees, so you won't be able to keep it in a pot for all that long before it has to go in the ground.
