Garden pests…

I am trying to have an edible garden…. But i am really struggling….
Slugs and snails - i can deal with that
Squirrels and birds eating my baby pears, cherries - i am used to it…
Heatwave and no rain - i’ll try to water and to build up shade (but not too compact for fear of mildew).
But now… i seemed to have “unlocked” a new pest: maggots in plums!!!!! This is the first year i have had this… i fear now for my pear tree and my apple tree….
i am going to try some codling moth nematodes and some pheromones traps. Any tips?

the only thing i seem to grow ok are potatoes…. 😩😩

How do you deal with pests? I have never played Call of Duty but i imagine, i play a very similar version in my garden….

Oh so annoying! I’m sorry I don’t have useful advice about the maggots, I have seen tree nets although haven’t used one and sounds too late once the maggots are in, sadly.

I have taken joy this year in managing to squirrel proof my strawberries and blueberries using a large old dog crate we were going to throw out, as a makeshift fruit cage. Has worked well.

I personally don’t kill anything and look for friendly methods but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Slugs have eaten every single carrot top of mine this year, which is a new one for me. It’s just how it goes I think but so annoying.

I think many murderous thoughts. I can barely grow anything edible in my tiny garden. I want to grow salads - I spend a fortune on fresh salad stuff in the season but the slugs ignore everything just for long enough for me to think it's all right this year...then overnight one night they strip everything, the buggers.

I've contemplated building very tiny watchtowers...
