What do you do with wallflowers once they have flowered?

Have huge clump. Bare and bleak right now.

i leave mine alone, they seem to come up lovely every year.

even though they look all barky and rubbishy? Mine are the main feature of my front garden. But right now they look awful!!

They come back every year, but thet do get woody when they're old. I think the only thing to do is start again. You can but bunches of the plants in sept/oct ready for the following flowering.
I really love the smell of them, it's like the first sign of warm early summer.

Maybe you could try cutting them back to produce new shoots, but we start a new batch every couple of yrs, they're not expensive.
