Foxglove seed question

Can you cut the seed stalks down and let them dry and then collect the seed or do you have to leave them on the plant?

The seeds won’t ripen if you cut them off green then try to dry them. Let the stalks turn brown on the plant then shake into an envelope or paper bag. I shake them and just let mine self seed for the following year.

@NegativeSpace Thankyou. They make my garden look over and I wanted to put some cosmos I grew from seed in their place but I’ll have to be patient.

The seed pods on mine (native) are already going brown and ripening at the base of the stalk while the ones higher up are still green. I've never collected the seed though, they make their own arrangements.
