We hve a small Victoria Plum tree which gave what looked like far too many fruit last year, we were having to prop branches up as they were too heavy............anyway, I've just realised that it hasn't even flowered this year. Does anyone know why this is, or if there's anything we can do to help it along for next year.

We have a victoria plum tree too and this year no fruit - I asked my mum who said they only flower and fruit every other year! what a cheek, we like all our plants and trees to earn their keep. I hope we have a real bumper crop next year.

OOh, I didn't know that, thanks.
Agree completely, it's for the shredder if it doesn't pull it's finger out next year!

we have a plum that was completely overladen with fruit last year (first year we'd been in this house), this year it's got about three plums on it. i think they do have kind of 'rest' years and it'll probably crop well next time.
however ours did flower, tho not as much as last year - if yours didnt at all, try feeding it with potash (scatter around roots and water in). also are there any brown shrivelled leaves? if there were plums left on it that you didnt pick and that rotted on the tree it sometimes gets a kind of brown rot (forget what it's called) that stops it fruiting.

My plum tree too didn't flower this year. It was only planted last year and so didn't do anything last year either.
