I’m thinking of under planting a tree with a couple of Saxifraga Urbium - London Pride.

Has anyone grown it? Does it grow quickly and spread and is it low maintenance?

Hi, I’ve got quite a lot of that, was here when I moved in 30 years ago.
It spreads, but not quickly, and is easy to control.
I would recommend it.
nb - I tried to buy more recently and nowhere round here stocks it!

I've had it in various different gardens. It's strangely picky - in some spots it does grow very well and spreads quickly. In others it kind of sits and sulks. I've never been able to work out what it wants.

It is lovely though - give it a go and hope it's happy!

Just noticed the ‘relevant’ discussions offered below are all for Pride parades!

It’s so pretty! I had not come across it before but got some at a local church plant sale.
Hoping it does well.

It seemed to be in everyone's garden when I was a child and I've always loved it. Will it grow happily in my garden? Will it heck.

I have some, it seems to grow happily anywhere, even across concrete steps with no soil.
i read somewhere ( could be the RHS magazine) that it was becoming rarer for sake in garden centres.
