What’s happening with my apple tree?

I have an apple tree which appears to have been decimated this year and looks really poorly, there are hardly any leaves.
Online search seems to tell me it’s possibly Apple Ermine Moth because of webs on the branches, though I can’t see any caterpillars at the moment.
I can’t tell for sure, is there anything I can do to rescue it? It looks very sad and hoping it won’t affect anything else in the garden.

Apple ermine moth. Apparently it’s not fatal.

You will get caterpillars. You can cut off the affected leaves and branches but make sure to dispose of them.

Thanks. Problem is it looks like every single branch is affected! But if not fatal then hopefully they won’t come back next year. We have plenty of birds that visit our garden.
