Ideas for refreshing patio and retaining wall

My patio is about 80cm lower than the patio and has 3 steps cut into this retaining wall which lead up to the garden.
The wall hence is 80 to 90cm high, and runs across the width (about 9m). I have a Grey wooden slatted fence bordering the garden.
Looking to refresh the exposed brick of the wall and repave the patio with something more interesting than the current sandstone. Would appreciate some ideas on what to do with the brick.

I think the brick and stone are lovely. They are both in really good condition. Why do you want ro replace them? Do you like a more streamlined clean sort of aesthetic?

I agree with the pp - those materials are good.

Good to hear! My current mantra in life seems to be to change everything around me! I feel the patio looks a little untidy and dated. I wanted to change the tiles to something more modern, the brick retaining wall could stay but I would like it to match the tiles.

But there's also value in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I agree that it looks cute and doesn't exactly need a replacement. Maybe you can decorate it with something to give it a fresher look? It's hard to tell whether it'll be possible in there but adding climbing plants might help. There are also landscaping apps and programs (here is a list of some if you need a direction) that you can use to build mockups for possible rearrangements, add decorations and see what would work better.

Te existing paving & wall look really good

If you want to make it look a little more sleek, you could add 2 large angular pots, maybe slate grey, with lavender (drought resistant) or tall grasses in.

I think they look great too. If you want to make it more modern, then I would put some modern (e.g.) steel square or rectangular planters in front of the wall, with some restrained planting in them. Choose modern style furniture for the patio and you'll completely change the look without the disruption.

Don’t change it. Focus on planting and pots. You already have a good hard landscape structure here
