Is this azalea dead?

Bought last year and placed in a pot in shade, added acid soil.

Looks dead to me although a scrape of the stem reveals (a tinge) of green.

Can this be rescued?

You could try cutting it right back and hoping for the best.It looks a bit dead to me.

Mine didn't flower at all last year but the leaves looked healthy and it is covered in beautiful flowers now. Yours looks dead I'm afraid but try cutting it back and if no new leaves appear bin it.

I think it may have been waterlogged. Took it out pot and put in another one with more drainage holes.

The soil in the original one was really wet and despite putting crocks in the bottom I realise that one drainage hole may have been insufficient.

I recall now that I had something else in that pot that didn’t do well either.

I’ll cut back and cross fingers!
