Not sure what’s going on here or what I should go to look after my cherry?

Ants dont cause any damage aa far as i know so i would just ignore them.

Even if they are doing something weird to the leaves at the ends?

They are probably farming the aphids on your cherry - the aphids secret a sweet goo which ants love, so the ants protect them. You can let nature take its course and just leave the whole lot be or if the tree is really suffering in some way you can prevent the ants from climbing the tree with something like a grease band (i am no expert on how to stop this happening).

As PP stated, they farm aphids. They also move them around the tree and other plants to grow their 'herd'. You can spray them off with a garden hose to keep them under control

Blast them off with a hose then smear a ring of vaseline around the trunk.

Treat the aphids on the tree, and the ants will go away.

In the past I've just picked the worst tips of branches off but now I leave it, it doesn't look nice but it's all part of the ecosystem, the aphids will be food for baby birds.

I noticed the same thing yesterday on my flowering cherry (it's columnar, so very tall). I guessed it was aphids, though it's been so cold I thought it was a bit early. Hopefully the ladybirds will take care of them, if not I'll do the Vaseline thing.
