Indoor window box plants?

Morning!
I’d really like to plant up an indoor window box; gets full afternoon sun.

What sort of plants would work to thrive indoors? Would pansies/violas be happy inside?

TIA!

I grow basil on an indoor south-facing windowsill. It's not a flower, but I love the scent and I love that I can make pesto and have fresh leaves whenever I want.

Most plants suffer in full afternoon South facing sun. I move all my plants except cacti to non south facing window sills about now and only put them back after the summer.

Thanks 😊

@WildGarden , would cacti be ok there all year round? It’s actually in a shop window which is chilled/air conditioned, so the double whammy of direct sun but cool air…..

I leave my cacti there all year round. That way they get used to the sun as the seasons change rather than being moved into the sun on a really sunny day and scorching.

Air Con should be fine so long as they're not in the draught of it. They don't like draughts or cold air blowing directly onto them.

Pelargoniums, maybe.

Or a row of succulents such as the jade plant. Cacti are a bit spiny for a shop really.
