Rooting foliage from bouquets to grow on. Possible?

Sometimes when given bouquets there's lovely, sometimes unusual foliage included. Could I root some of the foliage to grow on?

How would I do this?

Treat them as you would any other kind of cuttings. Seed/cutting compost and rooting hormone powder. Haven't tried it myself, but carnations often have non-flowering shoots growing from the stems, and are easy to root apparently.

Ive done it with roses but it's hit and miss.
