Training a potato vine on to a trellis

We have a patio garden so my plants are in pots. I want to grow a potato vine up a small part of the garden wall and I've seen a slim line trellis to fix to it.

How do I do this in that the plant will, I suppose, need repotting at some stage. How do you do that if it's climbing up a wall, without destroying it?

Fix the trellis to the wall and put the plant it the pot it will be in for the duration. Then as the plant grows, move the loose bits to the bottom of the trellis.

Put it into the biggest pot now, rather than having to pot it on.

I've no idea how big they grow. At some point it will need a bigger pot won't it? Or need repotting? (Novice gardener here)

Then buy the biggest pot you’re happy to have in that position
